- Alexandra Timber Tramway and Museum - 04/05/01
- The railway had a quieter Easter this year than previously as the town had decided to put on a fair in the main street and people did not come down to the station as in past years.
- Bellarine Peninsula Railway - 04/05/01
- "Klondyke", the engine on hire to the Abt Railway in Tasmania has been returned to Queenscliff with a broken axle. This has been repaired and the engine is now back in service. The Good Friday Appeal for the Children's Hospital was run again but was down on the previous year. Trains operating over Easter in the "Steam Bash" all ran to time.
- Cole Creek Bush Tramway - 04/05/01
- While the tramway has been in existence for many years, the present management only took over to run the railway in December 2000. Since taking over the diesel engine has run on weekdays and the steam engine at weekends. The diesel has had some mechanical work carried out on it and now much more reliable. It is planned to ultimately extend the track beyond the present site. The carriages are all listed for refurbishment.
- Puffing Billy - Emerald Tourist Railway Board - 04/05/01
- The Climax engine has run its last trip for several years as its boiler ticket has now expired. The Thomas the Tank Engine shows continue to be most successful. The Centenary Great Train race took place at the end of April. The railway had a very good Easter with high numbers of passengers.
- Mornington Railway Preservation Society - 04/05/01
- The railway had a good Easter and was 15% improved on Easter 2000. Sleeper replacements are going ahead and they have completed an eight-car rolling stock shed. A permanent station is needed at Moorooduc.
- South Gippsland Tourist Railway - 04/05/01
- A major sleeper replacement programme is being done between Nyora and Loch. The E.T.R.B are to carry out some bridge repair works between Bena and Korumburra over the next few weeks.
- The Central Highlands Tourist Railway - 04/05/01
- A good Easter was experienced by the railway as there were over 30,000 people in Daylesford and all venues were packed. The restoration works on Daylesford Station have been completed and it reopens soon. The roof has been repaired and new flashing installed. The Walker rail motor has been operating most of the services. The DRC has had engine problems and the DERM has been out of order. It is back in service.. The DRC needs to have an engine removed for it to be repaired.
Bullarto station has been repainted and looks good. The turntable at Daylesford has been re-decked on one side. The ZL van is receiving attention.
- Victorian Goldfields Railway - 04/05/01
- A Friends of Thomas weekend was held and had good attendance. Passenger numbers were down over the summer period and Easter also was down a little. A goods train weekend is to be held in May. Locomotive J549 is in service after repairs. A modified design for the main steam pipe was prepared and a new pipe has been installed.
Signal works are to be done at Castlemaine. Repairs to the island platform building's roof at Castlemaine are being done. The Winters Flat trestle bridge will have a working bee to ascertain the exact repairs need to the bridge.
- Walhalla Goldfields Railway - 04/05/01
- A replica station of the original Walhalla Station has been built offsite. Traffic was up over Easter. The entire railway is programmed to open to traffic by the 16th August 2001. The bridges No 2 and 3 are to be rebuilt shortly. No 2 bridge is to have a longer span than originally built and No3 bridge to be as it was originally built.
- Yarra Valley Tourist Railway - 04/05/01
- The railway had a fair at Healesville on Easter Day and the trolley service was operating very successfully. The T class engine was running its engine in the compound and adding its whistle to the day. The toilets are being rebuilt and funds have been granted to entirely restore the station at Healesville.
