Alexandra Timber Tramway and Museum - 24/10/01

Plans are proceeding for the proposed extension but are being complicated by a proposal for a rail trail.
Bellarine Peninsula Railway - 24/10/01

A new internal steam pipe has been fitted to the M class engine and it is now running well. The QR mail van has been converted into a dance car and has been used on the Blues train. These trains carry 200 passengers and seven trains have been booked to date.
Coal Creek Bush Tramway - 24/10/01

The new diesel locomotive is proving its worth and has helped to make the service more reliable. A steam festival is to be held on the weekend of 17 November.
Mornington Railway Preservation Society - 24/10/01

Points are being constructed for a new run round road at Moorooduc station. A work for the dole scheme is going well.
Puffing Billy - Emerald Tourist Railway Board - 24/10/01

Locomotive 6A will be operational by Christmas this year and for the first time Puffing Billy will have five operational NA class engines. Thomas weekends are still going well. A date has been set for the completion of G42.
Seymour Heritage Centre - 24/10/01

Locomotive J515 is being retubed and tubes have had to be sourced from several countries. The standard gauge J engine is under way and the frames being worked upon. The wheels are to be turned and reduced in size. The normal restoration of carriages is continuing and the small ad hoc work for the dole scheme is going well.
Steamrail Victoria - 24/10/01

The busy part of the year has started and Steamrail is gearing up for this period of activity. Locomotive K153 has moved under its own power for the first time for many years. Carriage repair facilities have been launched in West Block of Newport workshop buildings.
The Central Highlands Tourist Railway - 24/10/01

The platform lights have been completed and cost about $7,000. The ZL van has been completely refurbished. Passenger numbers have been good.
Victorian Goldfields Railway - 24/10/01

Work is progressing well on the restoration works to Castlemaine. The Winters Flat Bridge is nearing completion. Work in Castlemaine yard is under way and the other bridges are being renewed. The Thomas weekend was well attended.
Walhalla Goldfields Railway - 24/10/01

Passenger numbers for August were lower than last year but September figures were the best on record. October sees a record number of charters. The annual Jazz on Track will be held on 1 December to allow the train to operate into Walhalla.

Bridge No 2 is expected to be completed by 24 October and foundations for bridge No 3 are expected to be ready by 19 October. Trestles sets to commence to be planted once the foundations are ready.

Track laying in Walhalla is proceeding but will not be finished until the bridgework is completed. The replica Walhalla station has not been placed in its permanent position and the goods shed will be used as the station building in the meantime. It is hoped to have the Henschell steam engine commissioned before the official opening into Walhalla.
