Alexandra Timber Tramway and Museum - 29/08/01

The railway has approached the Municipal Council to commence the planning of the proposed track extension.
Bellarine Peninsula Railway - 29/08/01

The M class steam engine is in for an overhaul again. The main steam pipe has failed once more. The railway is converting some carriages into dance cars. The QR railmotor is to be leased to the Beaudesert Railway in Queensland for rebuilding. As well a V class engine is to be sold to them. The Railway has entered the Stationeers competition.
Mornington Railway Preservation Society - 29/08/01

The annual meeting has been held. The K class engine is under repair and it is hoped to have it back in service by Fathers' Day.
Puffing Billy - Emerald Tourist Railway Board - 29/08/01

Puffing Billy carried some 254,000 passengers in 2000/2001. The new timetable has two trains running in the winter weekdays. The Thomas the Tank Engine weekend was most successful and broke all records for attendance. New flashing lights have been commissioned at Belgrave.
The Central Highlands Tourist Railway - 29/08/01

The new platform lights are being erected at Daylesford and the railway is waiting on the electrician to complete the works. Passenger figures are up and the town is booming at weekends. The DRC railcar needs some attention to its radiator.
Victorian Goldfields Railway - 29/08/01

The restoration work back to Castlemaine has commenced and a bridge gang has started. Three timber bridges have been demolished at Natimuk for material. Negotiations with Freight Australia are under way regarding signalling at Castlemaine. The Winters Creek Bridge has been nominated for heritage status.
Walhalla Goldfields Railway - 29/08/01

The Henchel steam engine is being commissioned and the Rail Safety Accreditation is being varied to allow for the opening of the line back into Walhalla. Material has been ordered for the two missing bridges and work should start on site in the next month.
