| Operation of Heritage Rail in the 21st Century |

A very successful Seminar was held at Belgrave
on the above dates with seven keynote speakers from both the
regulators, industry and heritage rail speaking to the participants.
The speaker from the National Regulatory Authority , Brett Baker,
from the National Transport Commission, spoke on how Heritage Rail
fits into the National sphere.

Sochon Deputy CEO of the Australasian Railway Association spoke on the work of the ARA and how
Heritage rail must play its part in the National scene.

Chris Le Marshall from Linqage International spoke on how either
heritage rail matures or fails.
A very interesting talk was given by Alan Gardner of Puffing Billy on
how that railway went about accrediting a new item of rolling stock.

Warren Doubleday provided an overview of heritage tramways and whether
these organisations will survive the next 600 years. Copy available here
All who attended the seminar were able to explore the Puffing Billy workshops and as special treat were able to travel on a special train hauled by the newly restored locomotive G 42 to Menzies Creek where a guided tour took place of the Puffing Billy Museum. |
